R3.) Mr. Currin is kind of a big deal...true or false

“Mr. Currin is kind of a big deal...true or false”

Well, there have been several classes throughout this year where Mr. Currin has gone on about how he is just so amazing. This could be easily debated, if you think about it. But, in my opinion Mr. Currin can be a pretty big deal a majority of the time. I mean there are not many teachers that have a fun personality, that enjoy laughing with their class. I enjoy the fact that my last block of the day is in his class. I find school to be extremely boring, but when you get to his class you can still have fun, while still getting all of your work done. The work is never to overbearing, which is one thing I really like. Not only is Mr. Currin a big deal for having a fun class, but he is a big deal because pretty much every student in this school loves him, even the staff. He has been a great advisor throughout my four years of high school and I’m glad to have had him for a teacher. But now switching to why I think there are times he is not such a big deal would be when he likes to enforce the idea into people’s heads that he is a big deal. I understand that he is a big deal, but come on I can’t believe he thought it would be normal to have everyone write a blog as to why he is amazing. Come on I know I’m amazing too, but you don’t see me trying to make everyone write a blog about me. Let’s just be honest he may be a big deal but he will never be as great as me, just kidding. But, anyways other than that little flaw, he totally has every right to think he is a big deal. You will not find many teachers out there like him that will bring laughter to every class.

R2.) What I Love Writing About

I love writing about things that spark my interest. Sometimes that consists of writing about past experiences, things I have done recently, or even just looking up cool articles that will be easy to write about. I love being able to share everything I have done over the weekends by writing about it in my blogs. It’s easy for me to ramble on about myself and the fun things I have experienced over time. I also just enjoy writing my blogs based off of interesting articles that I looked up online. What better way to inform your classmates then to write a blog about a topic that not many people have heard about. There are times when I have absolutely no clue what to write, so it can be extremely hard for me. I like choice blogs but every now and then I don’t like them because I never have anything interesting to write about. That’s why I take joy in looking up online articles because it’s pretty much all right there and you don’t have to sit for twenty minutes wasting your time thinking about what you could possibly write about. I think that I started off great writing about interesting blogs but as time progressed I ran out of ideas and struggled to write interesting things. I also started off enjoying writing about articles because I felt like I had a million ideas I could write about but now I struggle week to week to pull out great new ideas. But overall I don’t really enjoy writing articles, but I do find it fun to write blogs every week. I think that if the articles weren’t Alden related I would have much easier time writing about things that won’t bore the readers. I really enjoy writing about things that interest me and that is when I write my best.

R1.) The Best Part About The End Of The School Year

The best part about the end of the school year is knowing that you’re free to do whatever you want now and not have to worry about going to school. I absolutely hate waking up for school. Actually I just hate school so it makes me the happiest person in the world to know that I don’t have to be stressed about getting homework done or just going to school when you absolutely don’t feel like going. Another great thing about the school year ending is that my vacation to Lake George is coming close. It’s great that I can go on vacation for a week and not being flustered that I’m ranking up my absences. I just really love the feel of summertime and being able to sleep in everyday and even just the thought that I don’t have a set schedule makes my day. I’m the type of person that enjoys waking up whenever and then there on out I decide what I will do for that day. Some days I might just like to stay home and relax by my pool and then there is days where I would want to make plans with my friends, I can’t forget that this time when school ends and summer begins I know that I will never be returning to this school which is quite a relief. I will start college soon after, so I want to make this summer great. When the school year ends graduation will soon follow with, so I’m really pumped to leave school and start a new life with the new friends that I meet. The end of the school year means that I don’t have to worry about studying for tests or simply just doing work that I have no interest in ever completing.

Q5.) Woman Contracts Flesh Eating Virus

I was quite shocked to read an article about twenty four year old Aimee Copeland contracting a flesh eating bacteria after riding a homemade zip line. The bacteria is known as necrotizing fasciitis, a rare but potentially deadly disease that ravages the body’s tissues and causes them to die off. It is said that the fall left a gash in her left calf, needing twenty two staples to close it. Which they believe to have been the entry point for the necrotizing fasciitis. Doctors have since had to amputate one of her legs, and may have to remove her fingers and her remaining foot. However, physicians have hope of bringing life back to the palms of her hands, which could allow her the muscle control to use helpful prosthetics. They are awaiting a safe time before embarking on surgery for this. Even though Aimee has faced serious changes to her life she still worries about school and all the work she has missed, which I find to be quite funny. Andy Copeland, Aimee’s father told her that one day, the family will celebrate Aimee day, when she will be able to breathe on her own. He said, “ were going to celebrate that day forever for the rest of your life. Its the day that my daughter was delivered from this horrible, horrible disease.” Since then Aimee’s father has created a facebook page to keep people posted about his daughters astonishing recovery. After reading this article I can’t believe how lucky she was to discover the infection before it was to late. I also am astonished to hear that this bacteria is a potentially deadly disease and that she recovered quickly. I also find it great that she has such a loving family that stuck by her throughout all her surgeries and supported her through her time of need.

Q4.) Cultural Icon

At one point I had one specific icon that I absolutely adored. But, as time progressed I started leaning toward other icons. As of right know though there is no one I can think of that I can truly say I adore. Some people that I used to find as a cultural icon were people like Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. I love Miley pretty much just because of her show Hannah Montana and for going out there at such a young age and performing while setting aside whatever fears she had. I also loved Rihanna simply just because I love her music. There is not one song she put out that I don’t love.  Unfortunately, both of them had downfalls as time progressed. I found out that Miley Cyrus had done drugs and I was devastated. I idolized her and she just really disappointed me. Rihanna on the other hand I always found to be a strong woman and that’s what I loved about her. But when she was beat up by Chris Brown I felt terrible for her but she thought about getting back together with him. In my opinion what does that say for other women. No one should stay in an abusive relationship and that is why I could’t believe she considered getting back together with a person like that. In my opinion in order for a person to be iconic they need to be a role model, inspirational, and driven. People look up to others that they wish they could be like. From what I have seen on TV I don’t think people should idolize the cast of Jersey Shore. Don’t get me wrong I love that show, but you should not want to be anything like them. There habits are definitely not something people should want to portray. Overall, an icon is just someone who is a leader and determined to put everything they have into making it.

Q3.) Favorite Book Read In English

I would have to say the best book I ever read for an English Class would be Tuesday’s With Morrie. I really enjoyed how heartfelt and meaningful the story truly was. Every year for english we would have to read boring books that I had absolutely no interest in reading about, but was forced to if I wanted to pass. This year for english when we started reading Tuesdays With Morrie I felt like I was sucked in. Everything about this book I loved. The fact that this book was written based on the authors life I think is pretty cool. I love how the book started off with Mitch a married man only caring about work but progressively realizing that he should spend his time with family because their the most important. I also really enjoyed reading Morrie’s advice to Mitch because I thought that could teach everyone a life lesson. Another book that I enjoyed reading in english was Someone Like You. This novel I chose to read in my junior year for my book reports. But pretty much the whole idea of the story I loved. I love girly books that have romance in them and so this is why the book was perfect for me. The story had several twists which made it pretty interesting to read up on. The story is about a teen girl learning of her best friends pregnancy to a guy that just passed away. Throughout the story the girl tries to help her best friend cope with her boyfriends death and tries to help her get ready to be a mother. But, along the way she meets this guy, they start dating but he ends up changing her for the worse. At the end she realizes thats not what she wants in life and is there for her friend as she awaits the birth of her child. Both of these stories are great reads and I would recommend them to anyone.

Q2.) Plans For The Summer

For this year my hopes for the summer is to start working for my aunt who owns a cleaning business.  I really need to bring in the cash if I wanna have a little spending money when I’m off at college. When i’m not working I plan to be hanging out with my close friends swimming at my pool, going out to eat, or even just walking around the mall. I absolutely love summer time your free from school and can do whatever you want. So, even if some of my summer days just consist of sitting home and do nothing I will be happy. I love not having a schedule or having things on my agenda that need to be done in a certain amount of time. I’m a carefree person and I like to go where the wind takes me. Also, this summer I know that my friend Cindy and I will be going up to Lake George with her family for vacation, like I have done with her for the past three years. I absolutely love Lake George just for the pretty much the nature. But I’m really excited to go back because every year our one friend from Kentucky comes up and we all hang out. While there we go tubing, jump off of rocks into the water below, and my favorite of all is walking over to the Sygamore Hotel and sneaking in. The Sygamore hotel is probably the nicest hotel I have ever seen, so we enjoy spending all of our time there. Other than Lake George I don’t believe I have any other plans for the summer other than my cousins coming up from out of town to visit. So when It’s just me my summers are going to consist of sitting out by the pool and tanning or just simply shoving my face with food.

Q1.) Prom

This year I was super excited for prom, it was my senior year and I was going with all of my closest friends. So far everything was going well I went to get my hair done and I have to say it turned out quite well, I was kind of worried it would look nothing like I wanted. Once we were done there my mom took me out for lunch at subway and even allowed me to buy a smoothie, which is a rarity. So it seemed like it was going to be an amazing day. But, then when I got home I went looking for my guarder and it was no where to be found. Then, when i went to put on my dress I realized i must have lost way, god knows how. But it ended up the dress was a little loose on the top half so it wouldn’t stay as I wanted it too. Not to mention my mom hemmed my dress but for some reason it still was to long. So every time I tried to move in it I would stop on the dress and get caught. That wasn't the least of my worries though because at the dance it was much more worse, not only was i stepping on my dress but so was everyone else around me. I can honestly say this dress was a bad choice, you just shouldn’t wear big dresses to prom unless you don’t plan on dancing. The food at prom was pretty good. But, I must say I wasn’t the biggest fan of the music being played. My favorite thing at prom would have to of been the ice cream stand. I mean who doesn’t love ice cream. But the night wasn’t over, my limo group and I wanted to go to I Hop afterwards believing that it was open all night because thats what their website said. Unfortunately, I Hop was closed so we all agreed that it would be fun to go to the Niagara Falls and walk around, as well as eat in the Hard Rock Cafe. Shocker though that restaurant was closed too. Pretty much all hope was gone, but we decided to give it one last chance and went to Tim Hortons/Coldstone Creamery in hopes of getting ice cream. When I went up to the counter to order the woman told me they weren’t serving ice cream anymore. After being shut down three times our limo time was up and we had to return home. So in all means prom this year wasn’t my favorite.

P5.) One Year Old KIlled By Family Dog

After reading up on an article about a one year old baby boy who died after being attacked by his family’s mastiff dog, I can say I have never felt so sick. Jeremiah was over at his grandmother’s house in Las Vegas when he decided to crawl over to the dog. The dog was a Mastiff-Rhodesian mix weighing around one hundred and twenty pounds. Jeremiah’s father claims that he was just learning how to walk and believes he tried pulling himself up by the dog’s fur. In return the dog became vicious and sunk his teeth into the baby’s head shaking him endlessly. Jeremiah’s grandmother tried desperately to pry the dogs jaw from the baby’s head, while his father rushed down the stairs hoping to save him. Unfortunately, by the time he pulled Jeremiah out of the dog’s mouth it was too late. The dog had torn off the baby’s face. They rushed him to St. Rose Dominican Hospital-Siena Campus and then were flown by helicopter to UMC's Trauma Unit. The injuries were to severe and sadly baby Jeremiah died the next morning. Their six year old dog Onion is said to be put down after being tested for rabies. The family said the dog had been around Jeremiah since he was born and had never shown an aggressive side. He was a good dog. From reading several reports it is said that the dog was sleeping, when the baby abruptly awoke him. The dog’s first reaction was to defend himself because he was startled. Reports said the incident could have been prevented.  This article was devastating to read about and I can’t even imagine how the family is dealing with it. I wish that all of this could have been prevented because that beautiful baby did not get to live his life. It really is a shame to hear such a tragic occurrence and my prayers go out to that family.

P4.) Best of Both Worlds

I miss the old days when Hannah Montana was on Disney channel. It was my all-time favorite TV show and everything about it was just amazing. I had been growing up with Hannah Montana for almost six years, so for it to end was heartbreaking. I will never forget the episode where Miley admitted to everyone that she was Hannah Montana and she was sick of hiding. Not to mention that I love her signing so it was great when she added concerts she held into the episodes. Hannah Montana was my favorite show so when I learned that they were making the show into a movie I was thrilled. In my opinion the movie was great. I thought it was cool how Miley went back to Tennessee to visit her family as well as come back down to earth. While their Miley met a cute guy, learned how she let the fame take over what she used to be, and admits while performing at the fair that she is not who she says she is. Miley admits to all her fans that she has been hiding under the wig because she wants to remain living a normal life; she then proceeds to ask her finds if they would keep this a secret for her. When Miley was not playing in Hannah Montana she started filming the movie The Last Song. In my opinion another great movie. Any movie that can get me to cry I consider being good. Most movies have actors that barely have any tears coming and it looks like their laughing when they should really be crying. Miley was great when it came to this she had the tears streaming which in return got me to ball my eyes out. Miley has kind of fell of the face of the earth in the last few years so I’m hoping she stars in some upcoming movies.

P3.) New York Teacher Ratings Evaluation Debate

In most cases I don’t find teacher evaluation ratings to be very accurate, but every once in a while I would agree that teachers need to be evaluated to make sure their capable of helping students to learn. I understand why teachers are upset that their jobs are put on line based on how well their students perform on tests. I don’t think it’s fair for some teachers that are great at what they do, but because her students don’t study, test ratings result in her job being in jeopardy. This isn’t for all teachers. Some teachers acquire the knowledge they just are not good at teaching it. In these cases I think that it’s smart to evaluate their test ratings because if they can’t teach students shouldn’t have to suffer because of them. When more than half of your students fail an exam, the most likely reason is because they were not prepared well enough. The teachers that go above and beyond to get there students to learn the material I believe are the ones that deserve to keep their jobs. If you’re not going to work your but off then in my opinion why should you have the job when there are others out there that will work to no end?  Honor students learn easily and of course are going to score high on state tests. So, in my opinion that doesn’t make you a good teacher just because your honor students score high. I think that if you can get students that have struggled for years to pass your class and score high on state tests, than I would consider you to be an amazing teacher. In my opinion everyone is a great teacher in some way, but I still think you should have to prove yourself because it is a competitive job and their a many people out there that will kill for a teaching position.

P2.) My Prior Goals FInally Achieved

After reading what goals I hope to achieve at the end of the school year, I can honestly say that I achieved four out of my six goals. In the article I wrote in September that one of my top priorities was to figure out all of my plans for college. Also relating to that last sentence I hoped that before I went to college I would have a set plan on what career I would be going to college to study for. That was one goal I had set and achieved before the deadline so I’m pretty proud of myself. My second goal was to get my grades up so that any college I wanted to apply to, I wouldn’t have a problem when it came to getting in. That goal was one of the hardest ones I set for myself but I most definitely achieved it.  Another goal I set and hoped to fulfill before the end of my senior year was to join my clubs and sports. Unfortunately, I only joined the swim team during the fall and there on out I was pretty lazy and decided that I rather of spent my time going home and sleeping. I also set a goal to become more active in the community, which was another thing I didn’t improve on. On my behalf I think that was a big mistake because now that it has come time to apply for scholarships I really have nothing to put down for community service. The fifth goal I set for myself was to attend more school dances and going to different events held at the school. I can admit that I achieved that goal with no problems. Another goal I set was to improve my SAT scores. I may have increased my score, but definitely not as I high as I hoped for them to be. The final goal I set was to get along with everyone and have no regrets before I was to go off to college. I believe I have been pretty nice to everyone and don’t know of any enemy’s, so I would say I fulfilled that goal. I thought it was pretty cool to be able to look back and see goals I set months ago and be able to see if I actually achieved them.

P1.) TV Time

I have to say that I watch quite a bit of television. Whenever I’m not feeling well I like to turn on the TV, it always helps me fall asleep. Another time when I enjoy watching TV is when a come home from an exhausting day of school. It’s nice to be able to plop down on the couch in your comfiest clothes and just watch whatever is on the TV and not have a care in the world. I watch when I’m just plain old bored and there isn’t a thing to do, seeing as I live in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention my parents decided to build a theater room down in our basement, doubling the amount of TV I typically watch. Then every weekend whenever the weather isn’t too nice we like to go out and rent a couple movies from Family Video and have ourselves a movie night. We just recently signed up for an account with Netflix so like every two weeks we get sent two movies of our choosing. If I went out more and lived close to my friends then I definitely believe that the amount of TV I watch would decrease. If my friends lived close to me I would be spending that time I watched TV by going out and doing fun things with my friends. I believe that once I go away to college I will barely ever watch TV. I will have clubs, sport, studying, and my friends to take up all my time. The typical shows I take joy in watching are girly shows like Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, Vampire Diaries, and Modern Family. There is probably a bunch more but I don’t feel like taking the time to name them all. But most of the time I just watch whatever is on TV and looks good.

O4.) My Mother Is...

My mother is a sweetheart. Well that’s a lie sometimes I think she was possessed by the devil, but for the most part she is pretty nice. As much as my mother and I argue over stupid things at the end of the day she has my back and would do anything for me. On another note I honestly believe that my mother is more excited than I am for me to go to college. I just remember the experience I had going down to tour Fredonia. On the ride my mother felt the need to point out every store along the strip as if I didn’t see them with my own eyes. Then once we got on campus and met up with one of the professors for Psychology she stood their asking a million questions. But the best part had to be when we were walking back to the main building for drink and the professor dropped her folder and my mom shouted “Tara pick up her folder, don’t you want to be the teacher’s pet?” When we were just waiting around for campus guides my mom spotted her old friend from high school. So they started to talk, eventually finding out that her daughter was going to this school as well. Once they were done talking my mom immediately turns to me and says you should room with her daughter. My exact thoughts were can she be serious. I understand that my mom is excited, but now she is already gathering prospects for me to room with. That’s not it; as soon as I received my acceptance letter my mom already was planning how I was decorating my dorm room. I can’t complain though because this part actually excites me too. I love nothing more than picking out color schemes and basing that on what color my comforter and anything else I want in the room to look like. But other than that I think my mom should just dorm there for me because it seems like she is a million times more excited than I am.

O3.) Spring Break

Over spring break my mom, stepdad, my best friend Cindy, and I all went to Delaware for the week. My stepdad is obsessed with our RV so we had to drive down in it and stay at an RV park. While In Delaware we went down to Rehoboth beach and walked along the boardwalk. The weather wasn’t the warmest but it was a perfect temperature to walk and not freeze. It was a good time going in and out of the shops; I was even able to get a couple of cute shirts. Pretty much every night we went out to dinner at different restaurants than you would usually go to at home. When we weren’t out living it up, we enjoyed taking casual bike rides through the different neighborhoods down the road. There was one day when we went up to Ocean City, Maryland and spent the day up their walking along their boardwalk as well and going in and out of the shops. When we were ready to leave my step dad and I decided we wanted to try their fries because everyone was eating them around and they looked delicious. I can honestly say that they were the best fries I have ever tried and nothing could compete. Once we left there we just drove around for a while to see what there was around there to do. So we pretty much just looked at the neighborhoods and the restaurants they had. We were really looking forward to trying this seafood place called Phillip’s, but unfortunately it is closed until the weekends. Another high point of my vacation was going to Hershey Park on the way home in Pennsylvania. While there we took a tour in their chocolate factory building and bought a boatload of chocolate. The best part of visiting there was when we went on the ride that takes us through the whole process on how they make chocolate. All in all it was a fun trip, but I would definitely prefer going down in the summer when it’s a lot warmer so we can enjoy the beach.

O2.) What's More Expensive Than College? Not Going to College

From reading this article I learned that there is a high rate of unemployment for youths in America. Many people are emerging from conditions of wide spread poverty and lack of access to most important means of education. Apparently in the Middle East and North Africa, youth unemployment has been stuck above 20 percent for the last two decades. Then those young people in south and East Asia are overwhelmingly employed in the agriculture sector, which leaves them vulnerable to poverty. Studies shown in the article that going to school is cheaper than not going to school. College graduates earn eighty percent more than those who do not attend school. Once I graduate from high school this year I plan on attending Fredonia State University in the fall semester of 2012. Once there I plan to major in Psychology and business. Once I receive my Bachelor degree I plan on going on to receive my master’s degree. College may not be for everyone but the profession I hope to pursue will require studying at college. If I want to be able to succeed and make good money than I need to suck it up and learn things about psychology and business that I didn’t know. College will give me the chance to study something that sparks an interest in me, so I don’t believe that it will be as bad as high school. In my opinion if you know there is something you want to pursue a future in and you know very little about the subject then I think it would be dumb not to go to college and further your knowledge. Unless you plan on marrying rich or winning the lottery then I would agree that people that go to college are more likely to make more money and avoid unemployment. Depending on the career you plan on pursuing if you don’t go to college and you apply for the job along with someone else the person who received a degree will be the one to get the job.

O1.) Oakland, California University Shooting

After reading an article on the recent shootings of several people at Oikos University a small religious school in Oakland, California, and how the killer 43 year old Juan Goh felt no remorse made me absolutely sick. Goh was kicked out of college three months prior to the shootings due to his behavioral problems, anger management, and that he was deeply in debt and had tons of thousands of dollars in tax liens, including from the Internal Revenue Service. I believe that this triggered the horrendous events, and that him saying he was picked on was just a way to justify why he killed all those people. From what I read Goh took a receptionist hostage and went into a classroom looking for a certain female administrator, who wasn’t there. When Goh realized that she wasn’t there he shot the secretary and ordered all the students up against the wall. Not all of the students were cooperating so he began shooting. In quotes Goh said, “I’m going to kill you all”. After he was done in that classroom he carried on firing in several other classrooms killing over seven people and wounding three. He ended the killings and drove off in a victim’s car. Shortly, after Goh surrendered to police at a grocery store in the Oakland suburb of Alameda. When arrested, Goh was very cooperative, calm, and remembered very specific details of the shootings. All I can say is that people are sick, not everything in your life is going to go as you hoped. There are many people in this world I absolutely can’t stand and I have been rejected plenty of times from things I really care about. There is never a bad enough situation that would make it okay for you to take the lives of others. I hope that Juan Goh realizes one day that what he did was wrong and that not just innocent people were killed but their families were left to deal with the hurt and pain.

N4.) An Interview With Rudy Schieder

Rudy Schieder is a senior at Alden High school and is a fellow member of the Bulldog. I had the chance to ask him any five questions I was interested in learning about him. When asked what type of activities he takes joy in outside of school he said driving, working at Delta Sonic, playing in his rock in roll band, and going to Delta Sonic ragerz. His favorite movie is Inception because it is a movie inside a movie. He just recently went to see Twenty-One Jump Street and said it was hysterical and that it was one of the best movies he has seen lately. When I asked him if there was anywhere in the world he would want to travel to he responded that as of right now he would be interested in going to Texas and Florida. He said that he absolutely loves the culture and attitudes of people in Texas. Rudy would be interested in traveling to Naples, Florida because he loves their Cajun food, the everglades, palm trees, and long walks on the beach with his grandpa watching the sunset. Sometime in the future he would like to travel to Austria, Inn Brooks because it is beautiful there. Some of his favorite bands are Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Gorillaz, Drake, Katherine Wheel, and Yes because they are some of the best bands in the world. When I asked him what his dream school was he said it was Colombia College of Chicago because it’s the largest private arts college in the United States and the school has over twenty two buildings. Well it definitely was one interesting interview with Rudy Schieder, but it definitely gave me a chance to learn some new things I didn’t know about him. The interview also gave me the opportunity to try and understand his personality.

N3.) Trayvon Martin

After watching the video on the Trayvon Martin shooting I have to say that I find it extremely hard to believe that George Zimmerman shot the boy in self-defense. Hearing the call between Zimmerman and the police made it clear that when the police told him to stay in the car and not to follow Trayvon that it was in the best interest for the both of them. I believe that if George Zimmerman was to of stayed in the car like he was told then there wouldn’t have been a problem. The fact that Zimmerman thought the kid looked suspicious seems crazy to me. He mentions in the phone call that Trayvon looks like he is up to no good and on drugs or something. He then goes on to say that he is walking around and looking about. I didn’t know that it was a crime to walk around your neighborhood and look at your surroundings in a sweatshirt and jeans. I believe that Zimmerman realized the boy was black and suspected that the he didn’t belong to the neighborhood so automatically jumped to the conclusion that Trayvon was ready to start problems. From what I have heard it sounds to me that George Zimmerman took matters into his own hands and shot Trayvon before anything could even happen. Trayvon Martin had not been armed so I don’t understand why George would think it was okay to follow the boy around and shoot him dead. He says that the boy had assaulted him, but I find that hard to believe. There was proof that the boy was on the phone and was most likely unaware that Zimmerman was even following him. This video just makes me believe even more that Zimmerman is a racist and couldn’t believe that a colored teen dressed in what he was wearing could ever afford to live in this neighborhood. If George was really that worried for his safety he should have stayed in his car and waited for the police to take care of the issue.

N2.) My Career Choices

During the summer I usually work at Darien Lake Theme Park and Resort as a hostess at the front desk. But, as of know I don’t have a job and I hope to not have one over the summer as well. I absolutely hated working at Darien Lake, half the guests were creeps or just plain old crazy. I have my whole life to work so I rather enjoy my summer attending to my needs and no one else’s. If I actually had to pay for a car or something then I would definitely get a job, but I don’t see the point in having to suffer through work when I don’t need to. If I had to get a job anywhere I would like to work at Starbucks or Panera. Starbucks in my opinion has the best coffee on earth so just having the opportunity to work around that would make me a happy girl. In general I just love Panera and I believe I would enjoy making the food they serve. I would apply to Panera but you have to be experienced and sadly I am not. The good news is that I plan to apply to a Starbucks when I go to college. I think that if I had to get a job it should be something that I enjoy and that I’m not going to be miserable going to everyday. Once I graduate from college I hope to follow in a career dealing with psychology. For a while now I have really been interested in the study of human behavior and would enjoy talking to people about their problems. Taking psychology class really sparked an interest; there wasn’t one class that I can say I was bored sitting through. Not to mention if I do end up in this career I will sure be happy with my salary.

N1.) Spring TIme

Spring time happens to be my favorite time of the year for such reasons that, everyone is happy because they know that summer is not far away, flowers start blooming, and it’s almost time to break out the summer gear. Unlike winter where it’s always cold, spring is the perfect temperature its not to warm and it’s not too cold. I absolutely love bike rides when it’s breezy out and the sun isn’t blaring down on me. So spring time brings about the perfect time for my friends and I to go out and enjoy a lovely bike ride. I love the fact that you can step outside and not have to worry about pulling out your heavy winter jacket to wear around. Spring time makes me extremely happy for several reasons. One is that my parents love to spend their time outside working on the landscape so it gives me a chance to be parent free; I understand that by them spending their whole day outside that they won’t have time to lecture me on the chores that I need to complete. Another reason I love spring is because Instead of being trapped inside my house to workout I have the opportunity to go outside and take a walk around the block or even just do basic stretches and exercises. The final reason I love spring time is because that is usually the time where my parents decide to go on a RV trip and I have the house to myself, so I don’t have to be bothered. The only thing I dislike about spring is that all the insects and creepy crawlers come out. I absolutely hate snakes, their slimy and always look like ready to attack. Bees, fly’s, and mosquitos are just annoying they constantly fly in my face and never go away. Due to these evil creations it makes me unhappy to go outside at times.

M4.) My Most Interesting Friend...

There is not many people in this world I can honestly say I enjoy being around but there is one person that comes to mind, that I absolutely enjoy hanging out with. My close friend Emily Hammer Walitzer is probably one of the funniest people to be around and for such reasons, that she is oblivious and sometimes confused. There was one time all my friends including Emily and I went to the town park to watch the fireworks for Fourth of July. At this time we all had to fight through the crowd to get good seats, not to mention there are people laying all around with their families on blankets getting ready for the fireworks to start. Most people think to themselves I better watch were I step because there is people lying down everywhere but not Emily. She ends up stepping on some guys head while walking by and doesn’t even realize that he is screaming. It was so funny because the guy was just lying their nicely with his family, not expecting for his face to get stepped in. Another time Cindy, Madeline, Emily and I all decided to go to the Galleria Mall to see a movie and shop. After the movie let out we had to walk through the mall to meet up with Emily’s mom. On that walk Emily didn’t notice a pop cup lying in the middle of her pathway and as she approached it her foot ended up kicking the cup right into the air directly hitting one of the mall cops. Now, I understand she didn’t see the cop and it was an accident but the mall cop obviously didn’t think the same. When Emily apologized to the cop he had the most disgusted look on his face and just continued to walk away. My friends and I began to die of laughter; we couldn’t believe Emily had kicked that cup directly at the cop and his reaction just topped it all off.

M3.) Most Embarrasing Thing Ever

The most embarrassing moment of my life would have to of been when I was walking down the staircase to my advisement, when I slipped flat on my butt. It was just a normal day; I was talking with my friends when we approached the staircase thinking everything was good. I made it down the first portion of stairs but once I hit the second part of the stairs I felt my feet give way and eventually I landed on my butt. It wasn’t over though I continued to slide down the stairs, as people started to notice and began to fill with laughter. I was so embarrassed and I really wish I hadn’t of worn my slip on shoes because then I wouldn’t have slipped and embarrassed myself. I couldn’t believe everyone was laughing at me and my face began to become extremely red, or at least that is what I was told. The next most embarrassing that happened in my life would have had to been when I answered the phone to an Indian voice, my first reaction was really my brother is trying to prank call me for the second day in a row. I decided he wasn’t going to foul me this time, so I decided to make fun of his Indian accent and tell him how stupid he was for calling me. Then I told him to hang up because he had a stupid accent. I decided to pick up the phone to call my mom’s office, but the guy was still on the other end so I continued to tell him how stupid he was until he finally hung up. Once he did I was able to call my mom’s office because I wanted to know why my brother pranked called me. She told me that they were talking the whole time and he never called. I had realized that the Indian guy I was talking to on the phone was not my brother and I couldn’t believe I had talked to the guy like that.

M2.) Distracted Driving

Distracted driving is a serious problem and affects everyone in different ways. There are many factors of distracted driving that must be taken into account such as eating and drinking, texting while driving, changing the radio, and applying makeup. Among these it is said that one in four American teen drivers are texting while driving. Research studies have also shown that senior drivers are involved in more fatal car accidents than any other driving age group. In my opinion distracted driving is unsafe, irresponsible, and in a split second, its consequences can be devastating. There are so many ways to overcome the pressure of distracted driving such as placing calls when the car is stopped or have the passenger call for you. There is no message that is more important than your life, so it can wait. Another thing to avoid while driving is aggressive driving because it only gets you more stressed behind the wheel and you tend to not focus on safe driving. Driver distractions are the leading cause of most vehicle crashes. Not only does distracted driving affect you but it also harms your family and those involved in the accident. I believe that people need to be more aware of their driving situations and avoid accidents that don’t need to happen. There is no need to apply makeup, read or text while driving. You should be able to drive somewhere without those worries and if it is such a big deal to you pull over and do it in a safe area where no one will be harmed. My views are that teen drivers and senior drivers are shown to be involved in the most fatal car accidents. Teens shouldn’t have more than two kids in their car at a time because they become completely distracted and end up not paying attention to the road which leads to major car accidents. Senior drivers have difficulty seeing road signs and therefore end up going through red lights and stop signs creating serious accidents. I believe senior drivers should be retested.

M1.) My Family Traditions

Every year my family and I like to go on some type of family vacation. There have been years where we have went on cruises, went to tropical resorts, or just went to stay and visit with close relatives. This year we decided it would be fun to stay in the Mayan Rivera for a week. My family and I all agree that nothing sounds better than soaking up the rays and taking advantage of the all-inclusive food and drinks. Plus we can spend our time doing whatever we please and not have to worry about anything stressful. Every year I look forward to these family traditions because it gives all of us the opportunity to spend time together. So, for this year I am ecstatic to spend my days relaxing with my family and not having a care in the world. What’s great about the resort we are staying at this year are all the extra bonuses. There’s swim up bars, a lazy river, and plenty of water activities like kayaking, scuba diving, jet skiing, and much more. Another family tradition my family and I enjoy doing are Sunday dinners. We all love food so what better way to spend a Sunday, but with the ones you loving eating all your favorite foods. Sunday dinners give all of us to sit around the table and discuss anything that has been on our minds. I hate the nights were everyone is either working later or has other plans to go out and won’t be home for dinner. But, Sunday is the one night that everyone has to make sure there home for because if they weren’t they would be breaking our tradition. I absolutely love Sunday dinners because my mom never holds back on what she makes, she goes all out. Unlike, on regular nights, Sunday nights consist of a delicious dinner and some kind of homemade desert.

L4.) Pumped For The Weekend

I am so excited for this week of school to be over because I am thrilled for what the weekend will bring. On Saturday it is my birthday, which means everyone has to be nice to me even if they don’t like me. The first activity of the day will be going shopping and out to lunch with my mom and finally, I will be able to by myself a MacBook, I have wanted one for years. Then later on at night my mom made reservations at some Italian restaurant, just because she knows I could live off of Italian food. For dessert were buying my favorite thing ever, a snickers cheese cake from the Cheesecake Factory. After dinner my parents decided they would rather go to a Bandits game with friends, then hang out any longer with their daughter. So, my friends and I plan on going to Lasertron, and then were going to do a sleepover which is a great way to top the night off. Oh, and I can’t forget my brother will be away in New York City until Sunday night so I don’t have to worry about dealing with all of his nonsense. Don’t get me wrong I love my brother, but there are just times were he drives me insane. On Sunday, I will probably spend the day at my dad’s hanging out because it’s been forever since I have seen him. Not only will I be able to see my dad but, I can finally see my cousins and do something fun with them. But, the main reason I am excited for this week of school to be over is because I am pumped for being able to sleep in. It feels like it has been forever since I have had a good night of sleep.

L3.) Things That Drive Me Crazy

There are many things that make me angry, but one thing that just drives me insane is the people that have no filters. I cannot stand when people just say whatever is on their mind and don’t care whether it is hurtful or not. I understand people like to get things they have been thinking about off there chest, but that doesn’t make it alright to say whatever you want and not think people will get offended. For example, when people bring up a topic you’re sensitive about and put there two sense in about it. I honestly can’t stand rude people, if you have an opinion and you know that someone is going to get upset over it why bother bringing it up? Another thing that fires me up is the SAT’s. I don’t agree with one test basing your future on whether you will get into college or not. Not everyone is strong in math, so I don’t think it’s fair to give a test where half of it is based on that. Also, the English portions are extremely hard, unless you study the whole dictionary there is no way to possibly know the vocab they put on their. I spent hours studying vocab flashcards and reviewing math and yet I still scored lower than a majority of my class. The final thing that drives me insane is my mother’s constant nagging. I understand she likes to have everything organized and the way she wants it, but the constant do this do that is irritating. The weekends are the worst because she has chores upon chores for everyone to do. You finish one thing and she just keeps adding them on, leaving no time to have some peace and quiet. The weekends may be worse than regular week days, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t work to be done.

L2.) Things I'm Afraid Of

There are many things that I am afraid of. One thing I am extremely terrified of is rats/mice. I hate the noise they make and most of all their long disgusting tails. The one time I was grabbing something out of my pantry when I noticed a mouse running across. I screamed as loud as I could waking up everyone in my house. It took me two whole days to work up the courage to enter my pantry. There was another time me and my friend wanted to go to Darien Lake so we went into my room to get sweatshirts. In one of my sweatshirts I noticed a whole in the front pocket and I knew what it was from. My friend and I began to panic and I called my mom hysterically crying. I was terrified to go back into my room so we just didn’t. I made my mom buy poison bags and this system that goes throughout the house and kills mice. Still to this day I am paranoid at night that I hear mice clawing at my walls. I can honestly say that mice are one of my biggest fears and I hope to never have to come into contact with one again. Another thing I am afraid of is Snakes. They are just so slimy and sneaky and I feel as though all they do is bite people. I have seen so many snakes in the yard during the summer as well as in my mom’s landscaping. I have come to the point that when my mom asks me to water her plants I have to break the news that I can’t because I don’t want to have to encounter a snake. Every time I went outside in the summer I would see a snake and then have to scream to my stepdad to take care of it. There was one time I opened the door to let my dog out when I noticed a snake unlike any I have ever seen. The snake was huge and my stepdad tried to kill it with a shovel, but it wouldn’t die so he had to trap it in a bucket of lacquer thinner. These are two things I am extremely terrified of and will never stop screaming in terror when I see them.

L1.) My Super Bowl Sunday

Most people on super Bowl Sunday spend their day grocery shopping for every snack you can possibly imagine. They go home and they prepare their dips and finger foods, then they pull out every drink in the house. Then all their friends come over to get ready for game time. But, for me on Super Bowl Sunday I spent my day doing laundry and cleaning my room. Then, when everyone was watching the Super Bowl I decided I would rather watch the Titanic. What better way to spend the last day of the weekend before you go back to school, by watching a classic. While everyone was screaming downstairs about the score, I was upstairs enjoying a nice romantic movie with Leonardo Dicaprio. I much rather watch the Titanic then sit for a billion hours to watch a boring football game. In my opinion half time and all the commercials are much more enjoyable to watch then the actual game. I think that every year on Super Bowl Sunday I will make my own tradition and watch the Titanic. Another great thing about Super Bowl Sunday was that everyone was downstairs in our theater room, so I didn’t have to deal with my obnoxious brother that loves nothing more than to annoy every waking minute. While everyone was chowing down on appetizers as their dinner, I was enjoying a nice steak dinner. I much rather spend my Sunday being productive than sitting around a TV screen all night for a sport I don’t even enjoy. I don’t understand the people, who watch the Super Bowl when they have absolutely no interest in football, stop pretending and just do something you actually enjoy. I definitely plan to continue on my tradition for the years on. I will watch the Titanic every year and hopefully people will join me in the tradition.

K4.) Coming To Life

Stacey has spent her whole life listening to people tell her she is crazy and doesn’t know what’s real from fake anymore. Stacey admits that she has always had a strong imagination, but she can still tell when something isn’t right. When Stacey was little her father reprimanded her in ways many parents would look down on. Stacey had grown so terrified of her father and the lack of love he provided that she created imaginary friends. She knew that these friends were the only thing she had in the world and would be there when she fell down. What Stacey didn’t realize was that people started to question her sanity when they caught her at age fifteen talking to one of her so called friends. When people asked her who she was speaking and she told them, they automatically believed she was crazy. As Stacey grew older her imaginary friends started to disappear, but she continued to keep to herself. So, one day when she was resting in bed she started to notice the birds imprinted on her wallpaper coming to life. At first, Stacey just figured she was over tired and just seeing things. SO, she decided to open the window to get a little fresh air circulating around the room. Once Stacey returned to her bed, she began hearing chirping and the birds on the wallpaper started moving again. This time Stacey knew she wasn’t imagining this and that it was way too real to be fake. As she got out of bed and approached the wall she noticed one bird among all the others. The bird she noticed was coming out of the wall much faster than all the others. She watched as the bird removed its last wing from the wall and flew out the window. She knew that no one would ever believe her, but it didn’t matter because she knew it was real.

K3.) Tommy's Dream

It was a late night for Tommy Higgins, who prior to going to bed found out that his dad had been killed in an automobile accident. Most people would be upset to hear this news but not Tommy. Ever since Tommy’s little brother was born his father and him didn’t get along. The two spent most of their time arguing about Tommy’s attitude and Selfishness. His father didn’t appreciate how he never shared with his little brother, so when he had enough he decided to take away Tommy’s toys until he could learn to share. Ever since that day Tommy had resented his father. Tommy had never meant to be selfish or rude; he just wanted his father’s attention. So, hearing that his father had died wasn’t that upsetting for him, seeing as they didn’t have a great relationship in the first place. As Tommy went further into his sleep, he began to dream of his father and him playing baseball out In the front of the house. The two were as happy as could be and didn’t have a care in the world. What Tommy didn’t realize was that he was sleepwalking and everything he was dreaming about he was actually doing. He crept out his window baseball bat In hand, and luckily was on the first floor so he didn’t fall to his death. Tommy believed it was just a dream, but outside he stood swinging a bat and talking to thin air. It was the best night of Tommy’s life; he finally received the love and attention he always wanted from his father. Tommy finally felt as though his father cared and his brother didn’t always come first in his heart. When they finished baseball, Tommy awoke from his dream realizing he had slept walk and climbed back in through his window and then climbed back into bed and fell fast asleep.

K2.) Killer Husband

Bill Edgerton was an easy going, fair guy; he cared for everyone especially his wife. So one night Mr. Edgerton decided he would leave work early and surprise his wife with flowers and prepare her favorite meal for dinner. He spent the whole day gathering ingredients for the recipe, picking up her favorite flower yellow daisies, and then spent the rest of the day setting up the house with a romantic atmosphere. He started preparing chicken parmesan, and lit the table with dozens of candles. He knew that his wife would be home any moment so he went upstairs to put on a presentable outfit when he heard a bunch of racket coming from downstairs. The house was so big so it took him a minute to reach the stairs. When he reached the middle of the staircase he realized that his wife had brought company from the sound of it. Mr. Edgerton thought to himself for a while who she could possibly have over, when he heard the stereo come on and heard them dancing and sipping wine. He sat on the stairs for a while thinking about how he should approach his wife and her lover. After pondering his thought for a while he stammered down the stairs into the living room where he found his wife all over another man. He ripped her off of the tall, good looking, hair man and demanded how long they had been sneaking around. His wife made no response, so in return he grabbed her lover and dragged him out the door. When the man had finally left his driveway, he approached his wife with anger and confusion. Screaming with anger and frustration Bill raised the dining chair and smacked his wife over the head with it. After ten minutes of waiting for her to wake up and seeing no movement he began to panic. He thought of ways to dispose of the body without being caught. So, he then proceeded to wrap her up in a tarp, when he noticed movement under the tarp he raised the chair once again preparing to bring it down and end his wife for good.

K1.) Little Johnny's Adventure

One night little Johnny decided it was time for an adventure and what better way to do that then to embark on a journey. When everyone was fast asleep Johnny escaped out through his window, climbed down the trellis and walked out into the mystifying night. Johnny decided that he would take a shortcut through the cemetery to make his way over to the boardwalk where he would get ready to watch the boats set sail. But while traveling through the cemetery little Johnny started to hear voices calling his name. Johnny began to pick up his pace when he was stopped by a dark figure that he couldn’t make out because his face had been masked. Johnny began to panic and felt his heart beating out of his chest. With shaky legs and palms sweating Johnny realized the figure was nothing more than a ghost warning him to turn back. He decided to turn back and cut through a different way so he wouldn’t run into the creepy figure once again. Once Johnny reached the end of the graveyard he felt a great rush of relief escape his body. As he continued on Johnny came upon a figure that looked similar to the ghost he saw before but in his eyes he could tell this figure was evil and wasn’t happy about Johnny trespassing. The figure asked Johnny to follow him toward the boardwalk, at first he was very hesitant but knew that if he didn’t follow there would be major consequences. When they approached the boardwalk the figure walked towards a ghostly looking boat and demanded Johnny to get in. Johnny knew that something about this boat was not good and needed to get away. The figure began to grow angry and started shouting, when Johnny noticed to the right of him the ghost he saw in the cemetery approaching. He shouted for the boy to step away from the boat, he and quickly through the ghost into the boat as it took off with the current. The ghost from the cemetery asked why the boy disobeyed him and then went on to tell little Johnny the curse of the boat. He explained that the boat was a place they took kids to because it takes away their souls giving them more power to survive. So, as the boat carried off into the distance Johnny and the ghost kept their eyes on its path.

J4.) What's Good About School Dances...

There are many people that enjoy school dances but me on the other hand totally dreads them. I mean it’s nice being able to hang out with my close friends, but I just absolutely hate the environment. On my weekends I enjoy the fact that I don’t have to go to school for a whole two days, so going to these dances makes me realize how much I dislike school. Your probably wondering why bother going to the dance but the problem is my friends make a valid point that it is my senior year and that I will end up enjoying it. Plus my one friend constantly makes me feel terrible if I don’t go to these events with her. The problem is I absolutely hate dancing so an event that is based around all of that just makes it all the more worse. I really enjoy being able to dress up and see what everybody else decided to wear, but if that’s the only thing I can think of that I enjoy at a dance why bother going. I am the type of person that enjoys the after part of the dance because I absolutely love being able to go out with all of my friends and take part in activities I actually enjoy doing. I decided that as much as I hate dances I’m going to try to make the best of it and put my happy face on for the time because eventually it will be over. The only thing I hope to avoid for this dance is having to take a billion pictures. I’m looking forward to going over to my friend Madeline’s house and hanging out. It may start off as a rough night but once I get into her hot tub the night will have turned around for the better.

J3.) Favorite Bands

I have three favorite bands so I cannot choose a favorite. One of my favorite bands is Kings Of Leon, they have such original music. I absolutely love Kings Of Leon because there is not one song of theirs that I dislike. All of their songs have some sort of meaning to me and make me happy every time I hear them. Me and my best friend Cindy planned on attending one of their concerts over the summer and were devastated when their tour was cancelled. So hopefully one day we will be able to attend one of their concerts. Another band I absolutely enjoy listening to is Nickelback, which is up there on the top of my list as my number one band. I remember all the times my cousin, aunt, and I would all jam out to Nickelback on a long car ride. I love their music because it has meaning and depth and isn’t the typical pop band. I have listened to Nickelback since I was younger so it’s just there with me and will always be. The third band I absolutely love is Spice Girls because their classic. I love listening to their music because there has not been one time I have been able to just sit back and not sing along to it. I loved that they were and all girl group and there outfits just made the whole group. I hope that one day they get back together and have one last tour. Not to mention thanks to the Spice Girls it makes for great Halloween costumes. I love that all the guys dress up in the Spice Girl apparel and make it a huge joke. Let’ s face it there is not that many bands out there that I can honestly say I like but these bands win me over.

J2.) Favorite Teacher K-5

When I was eight years old my family and I moved to Alden because we were building a new house. So I had the honor of attending third grade in the Alden school district. I didn’t spend much time in the school district so if I had to pick my favorite teacher from third to fifth grade it would definitely have to be my fifth grade teacher Mrs. Bishop. She was one of the sweetest and easy going teachers I had met since I moved here. When I was struggling with science she would stay after school with me and help me until I felt confident with the material. She was great at teaching and the best part was that she made it enjoyable to learn. We would spend time doing fun activities that would help us learn new material. Mrs. Bishop would never raise her voice, no matter how annoyed she would get with us and that truly made me feel respect for her. I remember she always made time for us to joke around and not always be serious but she made it clear when it was time to get back to work. I really liked the fact that she was extremely organized; she had a specific chart for lunches, a chart for those who did their homework and so on. I thought it was smart of her to teach those that did their homework that they would be rewarded with free time and those that didn’t even attempt to do their homework were not allowed to have free time. I thought that was a great strategy to get kids to realize that they need to do their work in order to be rewarded. I also liked the chart that if you did your homework for a certain amount of time she would give you a ticket that said one free get out of homework card. The fact is she was a good teacher and at the same time was fun and nice.

J1. What A Hero Truly Is...

Hero is defined as ‘a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. In my opinion hero has a lot more meaning than the definition displayed. To me a hero is one who puts themselves out there, not caring what anyone thinks, is a good remodel for those not put on the right track, and most of all is a leader that is strong-willed and sets out to accomplish the impossible. Madeline Koelbl, my best friend who I have known for years deserves the title of “my hero”. Madeline has always been there for me, through all my ups and downs she’s backed me up no matter what. I can honestly say that everyone needs a friend like Madeline Koelbl, she is sincere, smart, and motivated. Madeline is my hero because she is the best influence on my life, she has taught me that it’s possible to have fun and still be a hard worker. My whole life all I cared about was having fun and didn’t really care about my grades, but Madeline proved that she had time to hang out with friends and still work hard and get good grades. Her whole life she has been extremely motivated, she participated in several sports and excelled in all of them. Not only was she motivated to do her best, but in swimming she led other teammates to put forth all they had and to never give up. The greatest characteristic that Madeline possess is that she is not self-absorbed and puts others before herself. She is the best friend I could ever ask for because whenever I’m feeling down she is always there to help me get through it. I couldn’t ask for a better best friend, she always has my back and that is why I can call her “my hero”.

4.) My Thoughts On This Mild Winter...

Many people are either thrilled or annoyed that this year is supposed to be a mild winter. In my case I am more than ecstatic about this year’s weather. Not only does snow make it difficult to reach your destination quickly and safely, but it leaves me dreading to get out of bed. For some people heavy snowfall is a downfall because unless you have a snow plow you are stuck going outside to shovel your driveway. When it snows I wish nothing more than to stay bundled in my covers and sleep the day away, which is not good when you have so many things that need to be tended to. Don’t get me wrong there are some reasons as to why I wish we would get a little snow. I love being able to go snowmobiling and sledding, but most of all I live for going out and going cross country skiing with my mom. The snow is enjoyable for these activities but other than that there are no other reasons as to why I would wish for snowfall. I am the type of person that enjoys nothing more than being able to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather. There are always times that a little cold weather is good, but that’s what fall is for. I see no reason as to why we have to deal with crazy amounts of snowfall during winter. If I could I would move somewhere that consists of a high climate, like North Carolina or even Florida. When I heard that my parents booked a tripped to the Mayan Rivera I was the happiest kid alive because just the thought of leaving this town to head somewhere warm was thrilling. So those who are disappointed about the scarce amount of snow we have received should be happy because next year I’m sure will get pounded with snowfall.

My Higlight of Holiday Break

There was so many things that I enjoyed while being on holiday break. I absolutely loved the time I was given to see family members I haven’t been in touch with for a while and hang out with all my closest friends. But, the highlight of my break had to be Christmas day because everyone was just so happy and everyone was able to come together and the most celebrated holiday. I enjoyed every minute of Christmas, not just because I was able to open gifts but because I had the time to see every side of my family and not have to worry about being away from the people you love. Christmas day was the high point of my vacation because I just loved being to put smiles on the people’s faces and not always be about myself. I mean what’s better than being able to think of someone other than yourself and see their face light up; I just absolutely love that feeling. Some other reasons as to why Christmas was my high point of the break was because I was able to pig out on delicious food all day and not have to feel bad about it, I wish everyday could be like that and I would never gain weight from it. A close second for the high point of my vacation was New Year’s Eve because my best friend, her family, and I all went to dinner at Friar’s Table. I can honestly say that I had the best meal that I have had in a while. What’s better than filet mignon and lobster tail? After dinner we all headed over to Shea’s Performing Arts Center to catch a few comedians perform. Once the comedy show was over we went down town and waited for the ball to drop. While, I was there I was able to witness several older ladies dancing really crazy, which just made for an amazing night. Both of these days remind me that school may be terrible but there are still things out there that you can look forward to.

Top Three Items On My Bucket LIst

Every person should create a bucket list once in their life, because there are just so many things you want to try before you die and what better way to do that then listing in order the things you hope to complete. My top item on my bucket list would be to go sky diving, I think it would thrilling like nothing I have ever tried before. Plus, I am extremely terrified of heights so what better way to face that fear. Not only would sky diving be something different but I think it would be life changing. The second item on my bucket list would be to travel to Hawaii with loved ones and ride the dolphins in the ocean. I have always wanted to travel to Hawaii since I was little, so I think it would a great opportunity. Not only would it be great to swim in the ocean but I think there is so many things to sight see you would never run out of things to do. I can just imagine myself down on the beach drinking some type of tropical drink soaking up the sun, there is absolutely no worries going on in my head, it’s just the perfect dream vacation. The third item on my bucket list would have to be meeting Channing Tatum in person. I absolutely love him; he is a great actor and is extremely attractive. Channing has starred in many of my favorite movies, so he would be my top choice as in what famous guy I would die to meet. I believe that meeting Channing Tatum would be a one in a life time thing and would be happy for life. There are so many more items that I would add to my bucket list if I had one, but these are just the ones that would be top on my list.

What Better Way To Start Off The Year

What better way to start out the New Year but with a new year’s resolution? My new year’s resolution would have to be not letting people’s insensitive attitudes toward me bring me down. I have spent way too much time in life allowing people’s words to affect me and what’s the point because those are the people that don’t feel good about themselves so they like to drag you down with them. I can tell you I will no longer take what people say to the heart. There is absolutely no point in getting in arguments with people over what comes out of their mouth because its’ not helping me, it’s just bringing me down to their level. I think this will be the greatest resolution idea ever because I need to realize that not every person that I meet I am going to like. I need to realize that when it comes time to get into a professional career that there is always going to be that one person you just can’t stand and you just need to learn to ignore it. Maybe one day these people will realize that no one likes to be around people that have nothing nice to say. All I can say is that those who dish it out will one day be hit with karma good. I’m hoping this New Year’s resolution will open my eyes and make me realize that people like that are not worth my time and shouldn’t bother with them. This year I plan on being very independent, so just because my friend likes a certain person doesn’t mean I’m going to like them. I was not put on this earth to please other people, so if I don’t like a person I’m going to stay far away from them and act they don’t exist. This may seem harsh but I am done wasting my time on people that obviously don’t care about me, so why should I ever give them the time of day or satisfaction. Well this will be the smartest resolution I thought to ever try.
